Dr. Doug Swanson

Chiropractor
Raised in Winfield Kansas, Dr. Doug graduated from Winfield High school and attended Southwestern College. He finished his Bachelors of Science in Health and Wellness from Parker University and his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Parker College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Doug knew that he could practice Chiropractic anywhere, but specifically chose to come back home. “I really felt a desire to come back home to Cowley County and bring some of the latest techniques, knowledge and opportunities for improved health to this area. I am thrilled to be serving the community I grew up in.”

Whenever you meet Dr. Doug you will understand that he is here to serve you and this community with the truth about health. “I am a pediatric and family wellness chiropractor. That simply means I focus on the spine and nervous system, as well as guiding others to know and understand how to make healthier lifestyle choices. When my first daughter was born and upon seeing how perfect she was, I realized my greater purpose was for all children and families to have a similar full expression of life that my family is able to enjoy.

However, it wasn’t long until my eyes were opened to the serious health difficulties that a lot of people especially our children are facing today. I’ve coined this as “The Perfect Storm“.

Now I have two passion; taking kids from the sometimes desperate places that they are in with their health and guiding them and their families through the storm. A storm or symptoms can be different in everyone whether it be, latching issues, colic, reflux, ear infection, asthma, sleep challenges, ADD/ADHD etc. for kids, or headaches, low back pain, anxiety, stress, etc. for our adults. Secondly “as is the case with my family” I am blessed with the opportunity to help many children and families through pro-active chiropractic care and wellness-based lifestyle choices. By helping each family create their individual “Health Development Plan” as a part of our “More Life Club”, we are able to amplify the health, and the optimal potential within us all.” As you can see Dr. Doug is here to serve you with truth and hope and we are proud that he has chosen to work in our community.

Dr. Doug also noted that “Cowley County offers the small town environment that is quiet and peaceful and is proving to be a great place to raise a family!” He and his wife Elissa both from Winfield are raising their little girls, Elegance, Courtly and Honest, here and they are so happy to call Winfield and the surrounding areas home. Dr. Doug’s favorite activities include spending quality time with his family and working out which is his personal stress reliever.

Dr. Brad Swanson

Chiropractor
Originally from Elsmore, a small town in Eastern Kansas, Dr. Swanson did his undergraduate studies at Allen County Community College with a Premed Degree. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic, located in Chesterfield, Missouri. He interned as an Associate Dr. at the Emporia Chiropractic Center directly following graduation, and then opened his own clinic in Winfield Kansas in the fall of 1981.

When asked why he chose Chiropractic as his career, Dr. Swanson shared this:

”I was first introduced to chiropractic when I was 12. When I was an elementary student, I developed a painful neck condition from a fall on a trampoline. The pain in my neck was so intense that I couldn’t’ raise my head off the pillow for days. I was afraid that I had broken my neck. When the pain finally did subside, it gradually turned into severe headaches. After months of taking medication for treatment of what they thought were migraine headaches, I became fed up with taking something that made me groggy, sleepy, and only covered up the symptoms. My mother finally decided we should give a chiropractor a try. After an exam, x-rays, and a series of adjustments, I got relief, and I was able to return to school regularly. I began playing sports again which was my life at the time. I was so amazed with the results that I decided that I wanted to become a chiropractor. I wanted to be able to help others as I had been helped.”

Dr. Swanson chose to start his practice and raise his family in Winfield for a wide variety of reasons, including small town life and close proximity to a metro area. But it was the community and people that made the decision to relocate here so easy.

Professional Accolades include: Appointed by Governor Sebelius to Utilization Review Committee in 2001 to present, Member of the Kansas Chiropractic Board of Directors from 1983 – 1993, and is Board Qualified in Chiropractic Orthopedics in 1986.

Dr. Swanson has served and been a sponsor on numerous Civic and Community Committees, Board Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, and most recently the Annual “Dog & Jog and Fun Run” benefiting the Cowley County Humane Society. Dr. Swanson has also donated back to local School Booster Clubs over $50,000 from providing School Physicals.

Dr. Swanson and his wife Anne are the proud parents of Carie, Mandy, Doug and Shayla… and grandparents of Chelo, Harper, Dalin, Clover, Elegance, Roman, Hayden and Courtly. And the tradition continues with Son Doug and Daughter Shayla graduating from the Parker Chiropractic College in Dallas Texas. Dr. Swanson’s Favorite activities include golf, and watching his grand kids grow and develop.
